Who We Are
I’m Tiffany, the founder, and this is my daughter the heart behind it all. From late-night chapter reads to intentionally handpicking books written by us, we’ve always believed in the power of stories to show us who we are and who we can become.
As my daughter grew, I noticed something: many of her friends rarely saw characters who looked like them, and most couldn’t name more than one Black author. That gap in both representation and awareness made me realize that without access to stories that reflect who they are, our children are being robbed of both knowledge and identity.
That’s Lit Co. will work to ensure Black and minority youth have access to books by authors who share their culture, history, and perspective. When a child finds themselves in a story, it builds pride, belonging, and a deeper love for reading.
My own story began in the stacks. At 16, I was shelving books at the University of Florida’s Library of Science. Later, I worked at Georgia State University’s library while pursuing my college degree. My 15+ years in sleep medicine and the corporate sector sharpened my skills, but my heart never left the shelves. Launching That’s Lit Co. in Atlanta brought everything full circle.
Hosea 4:6 reminds us, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee.” This verse isn’t just about education. It’s about what happens when truth, history, and identity are ignored. If we don’t give our children access to stories that tell them who they are, the world will gladly tell them who they’re not. Our mission is to close that gap, to give them books that anchor them in truth, culture, and self-worth.
Follow along as we grow, and help us get these books into the hands of our community. Because the future is written one page at a time, and our children deserve to see themselves in every chapter.
We’re building something powerful with That’s Lit Co!
